Why Personal Training?

Personal training is seen as a great motivational tool for many different reasons: it can help initiate you into gym life, by giving you training on how to use the various pieces of equipment properly and safely. It can provide motivation for people of all levels of experience, whether you are a beginner hoping to lose a few pounds, or if you are someone training for a marathon who requires a more specific workout. Having someone there to guide you every step of the way can provide the inspiration required to make the difference that you are looking for!

What benefits will I gain from Personal Training?

Personal training can be used to gain many different benefits for different people. In the main, it can be used to help you set and achieve your fitness goals. Everyone has a different fitness goal and Personal Training can be utilised to achieve these. Whether your goal is to lose weight, maintain a general fitness level, or train for a specific event, having a personal trainer can help give you the motivation you require to assist you in achieving them. You can become fitter quicker when provided with the motivation and support to give your all and achieve your best work in order to get fit. This in turn will provide you with higher energy levels, better focus and attention to detail, increased confidence and vitality and better health!

What can I expect from a Personal Trainer?

Your personal trainer should have your interests at heart. They will devise a personalised training schedule for your use, and coach you through it during each session. They will advise you on correct technique for different exercises, and gently encourage and motivate you. A good personal trainer will tweak and change your training routine every 6 to 8 weeks in order for it to remain challenging and interesting.

The relationship between your personal trainer and yourself should be an honest and open one. If you need to know or ask anything, you should feel that they are approachable. All personal trainers have their own methods and mannerisms towards coaching you, but it is all geared towards your benefits inevitably. I utilise the time together at our first meeting to ensure that you are comfortable working with me, and that we agree on your goals and how we can best achieve them, so that we can move forward together and work for your benefit, not mine.

Where will I be training?

You will be training in an environment that is comfortable for you – whether that be your home or workplace, or another suitable environment. I offer an exclusive service where I come to you, rather than the other way around. I’ll have all the equipment that you need with me. All you need to do is open the door to let me in!

I offer training at times that are suitable for you. However, if training is required before 9am, or after 8pm, then a slightly higher premium applies to this quality service.

How do I get started then?

Most personal trainers prefer that you book a block of 5-10 sessions at a time. This holds the advantage of keeping you motivated, as everyone likes to make sure that they get what they paid for. Many Personal Trainers also offer a discount for people who do book 10 sessions, giving you extra value for money.
Also, a contract is usually given to you, the client, outlining what is expected (punctuality etc.) from you, as well as what the Personal Trainer will do to keep their end of the deal. If there are any questions that you have, then they should be asked before the contract is signed.

I start by doing a Lifestyle MOT to allow us to assess your fitness and health, check any postural weaknesses and set your aims and goals for the sessions. Then we can move into the Personal Training sessions with clearly defined targets to achieve.
